To effectively waterproof cardboard boxes, you can use waterproof sealants or coatings such as polyurethane spray, waterproof tape, or plastic wrap. Make sure to apply the waterproofing material evenly and allow it to dry completely before using the boxes in wet conditions.
You can find waterproof storage boxes at any local department or moving/storage store in your area. If you are looking for a good deal online, check out; www.nextag.com/waterproof-storage-box/products-html

Personally I think otter boxes are better than phone cases. The otter box keeps your phone much safer and are more durable than your typical phone case. Phone cases are usually made out of plastic or rubber, the plastic cases break rather easily when dropped. The rubber/gel cases are a little more durable but do not compare to otter boxes.
The fur of a sea otter grows so closely together, that it is waterproof. It also traps tiny pockets of air, and the air acts as an insulator, helping to keep the otter from losing heat into the water.
Waterproof mobile phones are very rare. Alternatively waterproof cases for most popular mobile phones can be purchased from retailers such as Best Buy, or online from companies such as Otter Box.
I believe the beaver possibly has the most dense fur.
Waterproof boxes for cell phones are sold by Star Marine Depot, B&H Photo-Video-Audio, Smarthome, CE Showroom, Dogbyte Computer, Focus Camera, and Online Scuba.
