*It depends on how you want your poodle groomed. If you want them to look like the show dogs, then yes, their ears should be groomed. If you just want them as a pet and easy to care for you can have the groomer shape them anyway you want them. I own a Bichon Frize and they have very thick tight curly white hair close to their body. They are actually suppose to have a powder puff face, but my husband and I go camping and do a lot of things with our dog, so I have my groomer sheer her like a sheep (Bichons can get very hot with their coat) and leave her ears on the longer side instead of too short. If you aren't happy with the way your groomer is grooming your poodle then get a picture and show her and tell her that's how you want you dog groomed.
Poodles ears keep growing, they can become very long. Usually people leave them long and only trim them to keep a nice edge to them.

If you are unsure about grooming then perhaps you should pay for a visit to the groomers and they will show you how to do it in future. Otherwise, carefully clip between the toes and check the ears for mites or any debree. Then you may wish to trim the belly and tail hair so that it does not drag along the floor.

Poodles will have short fur on their legs if their fur is trimmed regularly and styled this way. However, if a poodle does not have a regular trim, then the fur on the legs will be long and fluffy, yet styled.
... it only works if your dog or cat lets you use it on them. other than that... you're better off going to the groomers to get a trim
Its called a bridlepath

Poodles have very cute floppy ears that should hang down past his mouth. The hair will continue to grow unless you trim it. Their ears do not stand up. You can look up on google "adult bichon frisé." They have poodle ears, but they are a little smaller!
It is called a "Bridle Path" or sometimes a bridle clip
A poodle requires regular brushing and they should be groomed every 6-8 weeks depending on how quick the fur grows. Your poodle should have his/her ears plucked every 2-4 weeks depending on how quickly the hair grows and the ears should be cleaned once a week. A poodle requires it's nails to be trimmed every 4 weeks. Most groomers will pluck the ears and trim the nails as well as styling their coat. Personally I would recommend the puppy trim if you go to a groomer as it keeps the coat short and the face trimmed and the dog does not look bald. Always fluff the legs up as it looks cute. As with all dogs you need to walk the poodle regularly and have him checked by a vet whenever you suspect illness etc. it needs to look pretty!
