They can be with the right training and rider to help them along.
Yes they are very good jumpers...They are very good show horses and many people use them for jumping competitions.
Yes. Any horse can be a good jumper if they are willing and built right. Thoroughbreds have a lean, rangy conformation and are very quick and bold. They can be quite scopey show jumpers, or brave eventing horses.
Successful racehorses, show jumpers, and other horses that have done well in competitions are the most expensive. These are generally highly trained Thoroughbreds or warmbloods (Hanovarians, Oldenburgs, etc.)
It generally is, yes. Left to their own designs, horses will commonly jump over obstacles in their way. But some show a much higher preference for it than others - they are then trained to become expert jumpers.

Yes, horses are natural jumpers due to their evolutionary history of escaping predators in the wild by jumping obstacles like fallen trees and streams. They have powerful hind legs and flexible joints that allow them to clear fences and other obstacles with ease. Many horse breeds have been specifically bred for jumping disciplines, such as show jumping and eventing.
Show jumpers in general tend to be lean, lithe, tall and leggy. These are typically warmbloods from the European continent, which were originally developed by crossing Arabians with draft horses to blend the size of a draft with the speed and verve of the Arabian.
No, you do not have to show horses in barrels.
Friesians can make OK lower level show jumpers, but they are not designed nor bred to jump. Friesians were originally bred to pull carriages, plow fields, and on occasion to carry a night into battle if needed. Modern Friesians are now also bred for Classical Dressage competitions.
The Whitaker Family are famous show jumers and there are loads of others xlolx Why don't you look on the HOYS website to see some more showjumping "heros"
Hanoverian The Hanoverian is a warmblood bred specifically for jumping, eventing, and dressage. According to the American Hanoverian Society, "The goal of the Hanoverian breeding program is to produce a noble horse with a cooperative temperament, elastic gaits, correct conformation, and outstanding ability in international equestrian disciplines." For children, Connemara ponies are also really good jumpers - I once had a 14hand Connemara that could jump 1.2meters I believe that there is no specific breed of horse that is "best" for jumping. I think that a breed can have good jumpers, but there are other breeds to that can produce some superb jumpers! The horse that placed 3rd at the Rolex Kentucky 3 Day Event 2010 was an off the track Thoroughbred (OTTB). However MANY MORE horses are brilliant for riding!!! Another breed is the Dutch Warmblood! The show jumpers in the Olympics use these horses because of their powerful hind legs!
