Blowfish can be aggressive when threatened or cornered, as they puff up their bodies and can be poisonous. However, they are generally passive and peaceful when left alone in their natural habitat.
Pufferfish aka blowfish are the most poisonous fish in the world. So yes Pufferfish are poisonous .!! ( by Pettnapah ) . :P
Pufferfish is one of the most poisonous fish in the world.
A blowfish protects itself by inflating its body with water or air to appear larger and more difficult to swallow by predators. They can also release a toxin when threatened, which is deadly to some predators and can cause illness in others. Additionally, the sharp spines on their skin can deter predators from attacking.
I have been wondering the same thing re: blowfish for crayfish bait. I know that on the west coast of Australia in Perth, people have caught large snapper and tailor which have had small blowfish in the gut. I have not personally seen this but then again, I've not been catching overly massive snapper or tailor. My question was more directed at what happens to the crayfish if you were to use blowfish for bait? 1) would they eat it - my guess, probably considering crabs will eat blowfish 2) would this make the crayfish poisonous for consumption??
It blows up when seeing a predator. Its spikes could really hurt another fish while its sometimes bright colors tell the predator it may be poisonous.
Sharks can eat blowfish. Other fish, like snapper also will eat blowfish, even when they are puffed up. Blowfish is a delicacy to humans as well.
Neither, a blowfish is a fish.
