No. Giant Schnauzers and Miniature Schnauzers are not the same breed. Giant Schnauzers and Miniature Schnauzers have a common ancestry in that both breeds were "bred-up" and bred-down" from the standard schnauzer. The Miniature Schnauzer was "bred-down" by breeding terriers with the larger Standard Schnauzer. The Miniature Schnauzer is a terrier breed. The Giant Schnauzer is the result of breeding larger breeds, e.g. the Bouvier des Flandres and the Great Dane, with the Standard Schnauzer. The Giant Schnauzer is a Working Dog breed. Other than appearance, the Schnauzer name and their common ancestor, which seems like a lot, the Miniature Schnauzer and Giant Schnauzer share little else.

There is three different sizes of the schnauzer breed. There is the Miniature Schnauzer which stands to about 12inches, the Standard Schnauzer I think reaches about 16 inches, and the Giant Schnauzer reaches about 24 inches i think although I'm sure someone will correct this if I'm wrong.

There are 3 types of schnauzers: Miniature Schnauzer, Standard Schnauzer, and a Giant Schnauzer.

Miniature Schnauzers are normally about a foot tall (30 cm) at the shoulder. They can weight between 13 and 15 pounds (5 to 7 kg).

Standard Schnauzers are normally about one and a half feet tall (46 cm) at the shoulder. They can weight between 26 to 37 pounds (12 to 17 kg).

Giant Schnauzers are about 2 feet tall (60 cm) at the shoulder and can weigh between 66 and 78 pounds (30 to 35 kg).
