No, they cannot be trained as house pets. While native foxes, if obtained at a very early age, can become quite docile and affectionate, this behavior can take a sudden turn during the mating season and the fox, especially a male, can become quite irritable and snappy. Foxes are also very territorial and will mark their new territory (the inside of your home) with an unpleasant, odiferous liquid that will stain furniture and is difficult to remove. They are also not amenable to potty training. As a caretaker for a local wildlife rescue group I have had first hand experience with this. Foxes should remain wild and not taken as pets. It is illegal in many locations.
