I see why you think that rabbits with floppy ears hearing would be muffled and it's true However, they can still hear very well :D I hope my information to you was usefull and correct :D Bye =]
Well it could be too young, you don't quote an age. OR more than likely your rabbit has poor ear carriage. When that happens the ears will not lop properly or may lop sometimes and then do a thing called airplaning which is ears standing out on the side of head like airplane wings (neither lopped nor upright.) It has been my experience with lops that their ears will start lopping when they are quite young if your rabbit has (or will have) good ear carriage.
Well, rabbits have very poor eyesight. So, to help escape from predators, their ears are large. In which, makes them floppy. No, actually, rabbits have very good eyesight- which according to some people, is because of their vitamin-A rich diet. Vitamin A is associated to healthy eyes. Rabbits that have floopy ears are naturally born that way. From Raadee
Because us humans have bred them that way. Someone got a rabbit with floppy ears, thought it was cute, and decided to breed from it. In the wild, floppy ears is no good. Reduces hearing sensitivity and increases the risk for ear infections, for both rabbits as well as floppy eared dogs. But as pets, it doesn't matter. They survive well enough anyhow.
You can get them on the Internet website. Google "hunter souvenirs" and you might find, rabbit skins, rabbit feet ( thought to give you VERY good luck), and some more. Please don't cut them off an alive, breathing, innocent rabbit.
Yes, they are gentle and quiet. They are the perfect rabbit for a rabbit owner. They will remain good unless you make it angry like pull it's ears, take it's food away, etc.
Some rabbits have a taste for celery and some don't. You can feed your rabbit celery but if your rabbit doesn't like it, you shouldn't force the rabbit to eat it-- even if its healthy. Celery is a good treat for rabbits. It should be handled as a treat though. A small piece every couple of days is enough.
They have big teeth, big ears, fur, whiskers, and a twitching nose.
They are very sweet, cuddly and friendly, and they wouldn't be nice to eat at all because of the guilt! Don't eat rabbits; they don't eat you!!!!!!!
No, rabbits don't like it when you carry them from the ears. Would you like get carried around by your ears? Rabbits are mammals too, and they do not like being carried around by their ears!!We often see people carrying rabbits by their ears, like magicians pulling the rabbit out of the hat. Picking a rabbit up by the ears is in fact animal cruelty and abuse! Good magicians nowadays know better and never pick up a rabbit this way.You should never pick any rabbit up by the ears, ever. This is an extremely painful and terrifying experience for them. You can also permanently injure the rabbit by dislocating the ears.If you have to pick up a rabbit, you should do it in a very particular way so that you avoid injury (see links below): with one hand under the chest, and one hand supporting the hind legs. Never let the legs dangle, because the if the rabbit panics (which is likely: most really hate being picked up), he might kick into the air and he could actually break his back this way. Never pick the rabbit up by a limb, like an arm or leg: this is extremely painful and can easily lead to broken bones.Don't pick the rabbit up by the scruff of the neck, either: it's quite uncomfortable for them.
Get a 'sample' square of carpet at your local carpet store (they usually give them away for free. Find a table that is the right height for you so that you can comfortably place your rabbit on this carpet. Place the rabbit on carpet, pose him in the correct manner. (If you do not know what the correct pose is for your breed consult arba.org for the correct pose.) remove your hands from the bunny. If he moves from the pose, repose him and then remove your hands. Do this over and over very gently but firmly until he gets the idea. (ONLY work with a rabbit for 5 to 10 minutes a day. More than that is tiring and irritating to your bunny) Some rabbits can be calmed and 'persuaded ' to sit on the carpet posed longer by stroking the inside of their ears (on upright ears) as they are standing up together. REMEMBER if your rabbit moves out of the pose, even slightly, repose it, tucking feet in as they should be tucked, gently. Good luck, this takes patience on your part as well as the rabbit's.
