The American Pitbull Terrier is not recognized by the AKC. It is in the UKC terrier group. The American Staffordshire Terrier is in the AKC terrier group
A pit bull is classified in the terrier group in the AKC, its a working dog, and it is in the Molosser family.
akc means American kennel club.
Both of these breeds are illegal in the UK. The main difference between these two breeds is that American Staffordshire Terriers have a recognised, official breed standard, whereas Pit Bull Terriers do not. Pit Bull Terriers are not actually an official breed.
Yes, the Border Terrier has been recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC) since 1930. This breed was assigned into the Terrier Group.
It is if that's what the puppy's parents are registered in. I tend to prefer AKC, but the choice is yours.
NO.....It is a half breed.....1/2 bulldog, and 1/2 terrier tiger.alex; A Staffordshire bull terrier is not a half breed, it is a real breed made from the same bulldogs and terriers pit bulls were originated from and is a cousin of the pitbull. It is commonly called a pit bull but is not a Pit Bull Terrier and so therefore isn't really a one.
Yes, the miniature schnauzer is in the AKC Terrier Group
That dog is a Pit bull. Check this out for more info on this breed: http://dogtime.com/american-pit-bull-terrier.html http://dogtime.com/staffordshire-bull-terrier.html The dog on the Little Rascals is an American Bulldog.
the akc has classified the breed as an American staffordshire terrier while the ukc has classified the breed as an American pit bull terrier so yes, they are both the same dog but American Staffordshire Terriers have been selectively bred for the last 65 years or so to posess certain physical characteristics. The Pitbull was bred for performance rather than looks so there are a wide variety of body types and temperments.
No. They are registered separately under JRT clubs. The AKC recognizes the Parson Russell, which is a kind of "show dog" variation on the working Jack Russell Terrier.
The Boston Terrier breed is in the Non-Sporting group of the AKC. Not all terrier breeds that the AKC recognizes are in the Terrier group.
