No. Elephants breathe air. They might swim underwater and use their trunks like snorkels to breathe air, but, that is the exception to the rule. Most elephants stay on land and never go more than a few feet into the water.

Yes. Elephants are excellent swimmers. Even baby elephants can swim comfortably. While swimming, their trunks are above the water level that helps them breath comfortably and swim even long distances.

Yes they do, that's how they cross a deep river, they hold they're trunks up out of the water and walk under the water.
