Ferrets are believed to be domesticated European polecat ferrets and so will be able to live together happily in most cases - however, some ferrets (especially if they are unaltered) do seem to prefer being alone, so it can be assumed that some polecats will be the same and fights might break out, started by either side. They'll be able to mate, too, so be aware of this if you don't want to find your ferrets increasing in numbers rapidly.
Do be aware that, if you have found an orphaned wild polecat or rehabilitated an injured wild one, it may carry diseases which your ferrets will be able to catch.

Ferrets are members of the Mustela genus. There are 17 species classed as Mustela including weasels, stoats, polecats, mink and ferrets.
A group of polecats is commonly referred to as a "business." These small carnivorous mammals belong to the weasel family and are known for their distinctive odor. Polecats are primarily found in Europe and parts of Asia, and they are often mistaken for ferrets.
Ferrets are predatory carnivores. In the wild, polecats (from which ferrets were domesticated from) would hunt and kill rabbits, and this instinct is not something that can be bred out of the species.
Ferrets have been mated with mink, wild European polecats (ferrets) and ermine, and have been surrogates for black footed ferrets, and are related to otters, but I don't think that mating with an otter would be successful.
The following animals are all members of the Mustelidae family and are closely related to each other: Ferrets, Otters, Martens, Badgers, Weasels, Wolverines, Stoats and Polecats
I don't believe there's any limit on how many can live together. They question would be how many ferrets can it's owner handle and take care of them properly. Some people are prone to "ferret math" , owning several ferrets
Yes but not together!
