Foxes purr. they also bark (high pitch). I had a couple to rehab, then return to wild. They came from a vixen that was killed. When they were happy, or more accurately content (favorite food, relaxing on a full belly) they purred... rather loudly in fact. They were never really "tame", but they relied on me for food for a while. Favorite food, hate to admit it, but they actually do go nuts for chicken. I only have experience with Grey Foxes, don't know about reds.

well most or all felines purr and one other species i know for sure that purr are elephants. the Indian Elephant purrs while it's feeding! Raccoons and Squirrels also purr. Bear Cubs and Hyenas also purr.
