Pears for Horses? A *couple of small slices without the seeds* (of a pear) won't do any harm, but if the horse is eating the pears off the ground, or you are giving the horse the whole pear this could be a problem. The seeds of some fruits are toxic to mammals...that includes people and animals. Also, if the horse has access to fruit that has fallen on the ground and eats too much, the horse could develop colic, which is potentially fatal in horses. Yes, it can. Just as well as it can eat a carrot or an apple.
