If they have had to many, or if they are allergic to what is in the treat. It might not be the treat that's making the dog sick either, you should watch it carefully to make sure it isn't eating anything it's not supposed to.

Changing foods for any dog - puppy or adult - has to be done slowly. That is, mix in the old food with the new. Slowly add more and more new food each time you feed the dog (it is recommended to feed your dog two smaller portions twice a day - breakfast and dinner - as opposed to one big bowl once a day). After a period of several days, you should be able to only use the new dog food.

Dogs love food - but little things can upset them, even bits of your food that you share. So be prepared for upset stomachs and diarrhea if you share your food or transition food too quickly.

As for not eating as much, he may simply not like the new food. Even super food-loving dogs, like Dalmatians, can be finicky with certain foods. If your dog rejects the new food, I would recommend not using it. I also recommend using foods that are of high quality and contain low to no wheat or wheat glutin fillers. Look for lamb or chicken and rice meals (where those are the first two ingredients listed).
