Cow's milk shouldn't really be given to kittens. Cats and kittens are lactose intolerant, which means that cannot digest it very well and can cause diarrhea. A kitten with diarrhea will get dehydrated very quickly and if left untreated can become fatal.

If you wish to give your kitten some milk, most stores now stock specially formulated cat or kitten milk which has no lactose in and is safe to drink.

What do milk drink?

When the kittens are first born, they will instinctively drink milk from there mother. When they are through that stage they will be able to eat whole food. They can still drink milk, just not from their mother. I recommend whole milk if you want to give them a little treat. Your cat still needs water though, milk is not a replacement. I hope you enjoy your new kitten as much as I have mine. May your friendship last forever.

Can you give your four month old kittens milk?

No, in fact cats in general should not drink milk. They do not have the enzyme needed to properly process milk in their digestive systems, so it usually just causes stomach upset and diarrhea.

What do you do for kitten that has not pooped for 3 days?

I would suggest give her milk that people drink. Whenever my cat had problems I would give her whole milk, and she would have diarrhea for 1 day. If it doesn't help, go to the vet.

Cats are not made to drink milk. Except only when they are very young and they get the milk from their mother. So I advise you not to feed milk to cats; only water.

Do cats produce milk?

A kitten, or cat, doesn't need cows milk at any age. Most cats are lactose intolerant and, kittens especially, can get an upset stomach. A kitten with diarrhoea can get very dehydrated very quickly and that can easily become fatal. If the kitten if very young, giving it Kitten Replacer Milk (KMR) will not harm it and will give it a little extra nutrition. If the kitten is old enough to completely eat solid food, water is just fine.

Do 7 week old kittens need milk or water?

At 7 weeks old, kittens should be weaned off milk and onto water. They can start eating kitten food moistened with water to help with the transition. It's important to provide fresh water at all times for them to stay hydrated.

Is it okay to feed a kitten cream?

Never. Cats and kittens should never be fed cow's milk or cream. Many cats are lactose intolerant and can become sick - which is incredibly dangerous in a young kitten. If you wish to treat a kitten to some milk, buy some specially formulated kitten milk which can be found in most pet stores. These are completely safe to give to your kitten.

What milk should a kitten drink instead of their mothers?

The best milk for a kitten is their mother's milk. If the mother is absent, the best option is to find another nursing Queen that can take on a few extra kittens until they are weaned. As a last resort, kittens can be given Kitten Milk Replacer (KMR) which will need to be fed once an hour or every two hours around the clock. Never give a kitten cow's milk as this can make them seriously ill, and offers no nutrients to the kitten.
