You take one hand under the butt (they will feel insecure otherwise, and start kicking and scratching) and one hand to support the chest. You should hold them close to you or else the poor thing will get frightened and it will try to jump away. If a rabbit panics, it can seriously injure itself (it can break its own back by kicking into empty air, for instance). Rabbits are land-loving creatures: don't pick them up unless you must -- it's not fun for them (at least, most do not enjoy it).
