You can and SHOULD check your new born rabbits to make sure there are no dead babies and that the babies are dry and well covered with fur.
The newborn rabbit will stay pink for a while then it will grow mold on it and the mold could be ANY color. Sorry about the dead rabbit :(

Just make sure the mother rabbit (doe) is with the newborn. She will make sure the newborn kit is as warm as clothes that just came out of the dryer! When they are old enough to touch, you can feel their belly to make sure they are warm.
