Legally, I'm not sure, but trust me, you do notwant a marmoset as a pet. My aunt and cousin are zookeepers and work with marmosets and other primates, and they scent everything (the marmosets and other primates). They grind their feces in their hands and rub it on as much as possible. You, your clothes, furniture, kitchen counter...you get the idea. Also, don't get one thinking that if it gets to be too much, you can take it to the zoo because they cannot legally take it. Nor do they want to because it could hurt the other animals in that exhibit or spread disease. You also can't tame them or train them not to smear feces all over everything. It's instinct, part of being a wild animal.

I hear chinchillas make good pets though if you want a more unusual pet, and those you can get at a pet store. And in Russia they've domesticated silver foxes (but you have to be really careful not to order from the wrong place because right now there is only one farm and they don't have permits to sell yet so you would have to wait another year or longer) It was a National Geographic article in case you want to research it.
