Stallions don't really come into season, but gelding early will

prevent stallion like behavior.

Seasonal estrus is controlled with the use of progesterone...which can be used to

delay heat for important events like a horse show. Usually discontinued to allow the

mare to cycle at a non critical time.

There has been some success in preventing cycling by inserting a sterilized sphere into a mare's uterus to simulate a conceptus/false pregnancy. This can prevent

cycling for several months. Seems to be more successful with some mares than others.

You can also use a drug called Regumate for mares as well as spaying them to prevent them from breeding and coming into season permanently.
