You actually can use a human hair tie. But it may fall off and fall into their dung or another horse may fight with that particular and bite or nip on the mane which will make the hairtie fall out. SO, if you want to tie or plait your horses mane i would suggest going to a store where you get your horse gear and grooming kits. Or you can just use a rubber band. The hair ties at the shops are mainly small rubber bands.
