Yes. The beaver is North America's larges rodent. The scientific name is Castor canadensis. They can grow over four feet long and weigh up to 60 pounds.

They have very large heavy claws that they use to shred the cambium (soft underbark) of food trees like willow, maple, birch and poplar.
