There are several congenital diseases, including: patellar luxation, Stenotic Nares, Cherry eye, back problems and eye abnormalities. The patella or kneecap is usually located directly in the center of the knee joint. Luxation, or dislocation of the patella, occurs when the patella slides out of its groove. Stenotic Nares is a condition where the narrow resticted nostril puts a strain on the dog's system and can lead to an enlargement of the heart. In the Cherry eye condition, the gland of the third eyelid, which produces about one-third of the tear film, prolapses as a pink fleshy mass protruding over the edge of the third eyelid, between the third eyelid and the cornea (clear front part of the eye that provides the first step in the collection of light). Is a havanese dog similar to a shih tzu?

* Yes, they are very similar, they are both in the AKC's toy group and have about the same temperament. * No not really! Havanese are better looking and tend to have better temperaments and don't have NEARLY as many health problems as Shih Tzus have! Havanese are in the toy group and shih tzuz are in the Non-Sporting group in the CKC.

How many days are shih tzus in heat?

What color can you expect your shih tzu to be?

Shih Tzus can be a combination of black, white, brown, tan or just black or white. Shih Tzus can be many different colors, but the most common combination is brown with white and tan. Also their coats can get very long so if you have one with long fur you should comb it every other day or else it will get about a million knots. Oh, and their coat can get dirty very easily so try to be clean! The-End!!! :)

How many times should a shih tzu mate to get pregnant?

Shih Tzus, as with most animals can continue to reproduce into their later years. In my opinion, it is not humane to breed an animal each and every time they go into heat. As long as you respect your animal's body and care for them they can continue to give birth if they are in good health.

What You Need to Know Before You Buy Shih Tzu?

The Shih Tzu, or "lion dog," is an adorable and popular breed. The average adult weighs anywhere from nine to 16 pounds and stands around 11 inches tall. While this breed is fairly active, they are a good choice for people who live in apartments or small homes. Most people decide to adopt a Shih Tzu based on its appearance and small size. There is no denying that most Shih Tzus are very cute. However, before choosing this breed, there are a few things that future dog owners need to know.Should You Buy Shih Tzu?Before buying a Shih Tzu, it's important to remember that adopting a Shih Tzu is a huge commitment. On average, this breed lives around 15 years. Unless you can commit that length of time to owning a dog, a Shih Tzu will not be a good choice.Shih Tzus are also very high maintenance. They are a long haired breed and require grooming once every four to six weeks. In between trips to the groomer, Shih Tzus need regular baths and brushings. Keep in mind that the average groomer charges around $25 to $40 for a trim, bath, and nail trimming. Unless you learn how to groom your dog yourself, you will need to consider this expense when adopting a Shih Tzu. Failing to groom a Shih Tzu will make the dog more susceptible to ear and eye infections.Another important thing to remember is that Shih Tzus do not like to be left alone for long periods of time. Many people consider this breed to be a lap dog breed. Because they are bred to be lapdogs, they adore their human family and thrive on attention. If you spend long periods away from the house, this may not be the best breed for your lifestyle. When cared for properly, Shih Tzus make great companions. They are active, loyal, and love attention from their owners. A Shih Tzu is a great choice for someone that wants a dedicated walking companion and playful friend, as long as they are willing to commit themselves to their new pet.

Where can one find Shih Tzu puppies for sale?

a breeder in eden valley minnesotayou can buy a shih tzu anywhere, the real question is how much are you willing to spend and do you know enough about them to make a smart purchase. Shih Tzus are not for everyone. Many breeders will ship their puppies to their new homes, but if you don't meet the puppy in person first or meet the parents, you could get a bad puppy with serious health problems. Make sure the breeder is reputable.try www.mooreshihtzus.webs.com
