Basically, just make sure at some times that it doesn't get all playful and try to keep a calm, mellow environment, and it'll learn the difference between playtime and nap time. Some ferrets don't like to snuggle, they're not like cats. They don't like to be restrained and will usually struggle to get put down, or they want to play. One way to calm them down, is to scruff them so they will hold still, and do this until they quit struggling, and they might learn to be calm when you're holding them. I have a step stool next to the bed, my ferret will climb up sometimes to sleep (or to play).
