Yes, it depends on a few variables though: after a day at the beach, I give my dog a bath, or if he rolls in something gross, or gets very sweaty. In the summer, once per week is pretty good, and in the winter, maybe only once per month. Not sure what other people do though..

Do dogs really need baths, and if so, how often should they be bathed?

Yes, dogs do need baths to maintain their hygiene and health. The frequency of bathing depends on the dog's breed, activity level, and skin condition. Generally, most dogs should be bathed every 4-6 weeks, but some may require more frequent baths if they have skin issues or get dirty often. It's important to use a dog-specific shampoo and to not over-bathe, as it can strip their skin of natural oils.
