Baby ferrets should not have any problems accepting other ferrets, Older ferrets that may have never been around other ferrets or animals may be a problem. Some ferrets may not readily accept other ferrets or they might take to each other right away. Every ferret is different and sometimes personalities clash, though it is rare. An older ferret might challenge a baby ferret for social order. When they first meet, supervise their reactions to each other and from that you'll be able to determine whether to put them together or keep them separate. Be aware that ferrets do play rough together, and it's okay, unless blood is drawn, or one ferret is hissing at the other, then you need to separate them Reason for a ferrets nonacceptance of another * Introduction of a new ferret * Possessiveness of space or items * Dominance * Hormonal changes * Some ferrets are solitary and never get along with other ferrets If ferrets seem incompatible, separate them into separate areas. Them try again. Sometimes they will just have to fight it out, which is okay and long as they do not draw blood or if one seems excessively nervous or stressed of the other. Advice from another contributor: I would put them in the same cage but let them meet first. take them both out in a ferret safe room and supervise their every move, if they start playing after a couple minutes, they'll be fine together and will keep each other company. If the results aren't that good, I would prepare an extra cage ahead of time before they meet and wait until they're age difference is fairly even or both have gained their maturity.
