Many labradors do like water as they have been bred to retrieve ojects from many places including water. However not all dogs are the same and there may be the occasional labrador scared of water. In this case do not force it in but gently introduc eit to a river and it may get to like it.

Everything from their coat (double layered and water resistant) to their mouth (they have a soft bite, as not to damage birds) to their amazing personality (they would do ANYTHING to please you) was bred to be a hunter's best buddy. Heck, even their noses resist water really well. They were bred to retrieve waterfowl. And yes, they were bred to love water. But just like every human is different, every lab is also different.
