There should not be a difference. Each breed has a written standard prepared by the American Kennel Club as to how it should look. An ethical breeder will breed to the standard, not over or under it.

A well bred Rottie should look like the standard for the breed. There should not be different looks for working or pets. They are a working breed. All should be able to be both, pets and working.

The only breed I can think off that there is a difference is the Labradors. If you look at the Labs bred to be Field Trialers or for hunting, they are much leggier and have larger heads but the ones shown in AKC conformation shows are much shorter on the leg and have smaller heads. This should not be but breeders will be breeders. There is only one standard per breed as written up by the AKC.

Where does a rottweiler thrive?

A rottweiler thrives in a loving home where it can also perform a meaningful job. This is a working breed of dog and requires a home where leadership is fair and consistent. This breed of dog is not for an inexperienced dog owner or for someone seeking to use its power for negative purposes. The Rottweiler loves to learn new things and use it's brain. This is a very loyal and loving dog and can also be quite the clown but it needs to know that the people it lives with are the true leaders of the pack. Rottweilers do best with space, cooler climates and daily exercise. Rottweilers have a double coat and can easily overheat. I strongly recommend that you do your homework before considering adding a Rottweiler to your home. The American Kennel Club is a useful place to start. Good luck!

Why are people scared of rottweilers?

First of all, you must not be afraid of the canine species, after all, they are all man's bestfriend. A lot of people are just frighted of big animals, well guess what, a majority of the animals we humans use as working animals are of a large proportion. Horses, Donkeys, Mules, Camels, Byson, and a number of canines are used to aid in helping us complete our tasks. One of the first canine working breeds were the Rottweilers. Still today, Rottweilers are one of the most loving, caring, and protective dogs in the world. My boyfriend had two Rottweilers and they are the most loving dogs I've ever met. So just remember, just because a canine is a large breed, it does not mean they are evil or mean. The bigger, the better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
