Typically a rider will have strong ankles, but only after having ridden for a while. it should be noted however that due to the position that riders use to safely hold themselves in the saddle, with their heels down, can cause Arthritis in the ankle joint due to the level of bend that must be held in that joint to achieve a heels down position.
