If you are breeding for the AKC or another established dog club, you need registration. However, if you are breeding "just to breed" or for money (also called backyard breeding), you may want to hold out. Dogs can carry genetic defaults (Hip Dysplasia among others) and passing along those defaults only adds to the large number of poorly bred dogs to begin with. Dog breeding is also VERY expensive - can you care properly for the puppies? This includes worming and puppy vaccines. What if your dog has complications during labor, can you afford an emergency vet visit? There are many things to consider before breeding your dogs, and sometimes the answer is to NOT to breed and to fix your dog. There are too many homeless dogs (purebred and not); breeding your dog should not be a priority unless you are improving the breed by "breeding out" genetic defaults and common problems with the breed.

Bully breed dogs are dogs that are classified as pit bill type breeds and were originally bred to fight bulls for sport. Not all dogs that have the term "bull" in their breed qualify. Bully breeds include the American pit bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Staffordshire terrier, English bull terrier, miniature bull terrier, and the American bulldog. (The English bulldog is not considered a bully breed.) Bully breeds are all part of the pit bull family, but each breed has unique personalities and temperaments. Bully breeds have gotten a bad reputation because of their aggressive beginnings, but they are great dogs to the right owner.
