yes, a killer whale or the orca sometimes live in the sunlight zone
they don't they live in the sun light zone
Adult Humpback whales are known to have an average lifespan of around 50 to 60 years. For decades man has hunted them extensively and hence we really do not know what their actual life expectancy is. Researchers recently discovered that a whale nearly 200 years old was captured near Alaska.
They live in the sunlight zone
Humpback whales live in all oceans of the world. They have feeding areas, and breeding areas. North Pacific humpbacks feed off Russia, Alaska, Aleutian Islands, and Canada. They breed in three areas: Baja California, Hawaii, and the islands south of Okiniwa, Japan. Atlantic humpbacks feed as far north as Norway and breed south of the Caribbean. Southern Ocean humpbacks feed in the southern areas and breed off the west coast of Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, Samoa and Fiji. There are humpback whales seen year around Costa Rica. Just a few days ago a humpback whale was seen in Hong Kong Bay for the first time in many years.

in the sun light zone
Sunlight zone
Killer whales live most of their life in the sunlight zone in the oceans, which near the surface. They have the ability travel further down into the twilight zone, although there isn't much reason to stay there as the food sources they use are much closer to the surface. There is no credible record of any Killer whale going as deep as the midnight zone. These 3 zones are generally regarded to have lower depth limits of -300ft., -6000ft. and -12,541ft. respectively.
The Sunlight Zone
the Sunlight Zone
The surface of the ocean down to 600 feet is called the Epipelagic Zone, commonly called the Sunlight Zone. Whales, being mammals, must breathe air and have a blowhole on top of their head for just that purpose. If they dive deeper than 600 feet, they would be getting into the Mesopelagic Zone (also known as the Twilight Zone) which goes to 3,000 feet below sea level. Humpback whales thrive in most of the world's oceans and seas, as they migrate as much as 16,000 miles per year. Check out the related link I've listed below, for more information.
