The creature responsible for the most koala deaths are domestic dogs. Man insists on clearing prime koala habitat for his suburban housing estates, meaning some of the koalas' territory remains. Koalas do not stay in a single tree all the time: they move between the trees in their home range. Too many people do not supervise their dogs, meaning koalas are often attacked while on the ground, between their home trees.
