There have been several "monkeys" launched into space, as well as "Ham" and "Enos", NASA chimpanzee astronauts (chimps are primates). The most famous of the NASA space monkeys were Able and Baker, who flew on a suborbital flight on May 28, 1959, aboard the JUPITER AM-18 rocket. Able was a rhesus monkey and (Miss) Baker a squirrel monkey. Miss Baker lived until 1984, when she was 27. (see related link)
