Unfortunately, with today's media as well as the poor upbringing of some (not all). Blacks are percieved as anything you can consider negative. If a person of another race is only exposed to these negatives via their workspace, environment and or media. They began to accept these negatives as the norm. Here are some subjects and the way blacks are percieved.

Education:

While their are many more educated blacks compared to the 1960's (thanks to integration of schools and colleges, HBCU's (Historically Black Colleges and Universities). and the Civil Rights Movement) Blacks are often percieved as uneducated. This perception comes from a number of things.

*Poor Performance in School

*Poor Behavior in School

*The lack of educated blacks in some black neighborhoods

*The use of slang, improper English, excessive profanity, and ridiculously loud talking and shouting in public

Poor

As their are poor whites and other poor races. People automatically assume that blacks of poor because of the following:

*Dress. While there is nothing wrong with casual. Not many people see the black professionals that do exist

*Always trying to get a hustle or a bargain. Gujarati Indians do this to, but who doesnt want something for free

*Media....It seems that the only good portrayal of blacks is the Cosby Show. Many people don't realize that there are many blacks that live like this. Most people are used to seeing the run-down, poor, trying to get a hustle guy on TV. This is just not the case.

Dress

*Really simple.......if you see anyone of anyrace showing their rear end and their pants/jeans hang off their butt you would think something is wrong too. This is not a trend that should continue. This was started in prison so that prisoners couldn't run. I've also heard that now the low wearing of the pants in prison means that the prisoner in particular is "available for action" Unfortunately, this means homosexual action. (Unless that's your bag)

Language

*Loud talking and constant profanity

*Slang talk and improper English

While there are more stereotypes that I could cover, I couldn't possibly think of them all.
