Habitat is being set aside for them, and there is no legal taking of this cat anymore, but sadly, a few are poached every year.

well to be honest there are quite a few these are the ones i know ....

In the year 1972 the snow leopard was put on the International Union for Conservation of Nature's Red list of Threatened species.All snow leopard range countries have laws protecting this big cat. While some countries have had these laws since the 1970's other signed up just recently.

Effectiveness and enforcement of the laws has been patchy, varying by country.

Through the convention on International Trade in Endangered Species trafficking in live snow leopards their fur or body parts is illegal in countries snow leopards live in.
