Dogs, coyotes, wolves, anything that is big enough to eat a Maine Coon. Hawks, owls, and eagles to- they would eat a kitten. Possibly an adult.

Jerry Clower's coon dog's name was "Othello."
Is your coon dog altered? That would help his aggressiveness. Also, it will prevent other intact dogs from attacking your dog.
The racoons just fight with the dogs. When they get treed by a hunting dog, the dogs eventually fight that coon to the death. The coon will fight back, but once the dog has his grips on a coon, the coon pretty much doesn't stand a chance. Unless he can get back to the river, the coon is a goner. The hound dogs will fight to the death. The coon will lose. So yes, that's when the racoons fight. But they don't fight with each other. Just with the dogs.
usually brown, tan, black
That is actually a two part question. For the coon-dog field trials that are sanctioned by the various kennel clubs that register coon-dogs, only registered coon-dogs are allowed to compete. But for the open class "coon-dog" field trials that are run for cash purses, like the Kenton National and other events, the dogs used are almost all greyhounds or greyhound crosses.
If my memory serves me right it was the "ghost coon" in the rotten tree that he tracked the animal to.
You know that camouflage is important when hunting. And so coon hunters have developed that breed of dog having stealth, agility, profile and sense for coon hunting. Once upon a coon, they sound the alarm. Now find a picture of a coon and hopefully you won't be mistaking a coon for a coon dog. But don't be persuaded by me; many hound dogs can be viciously trained to hunt for coons.
watch Where the Red fern grows....then you will see
if o Google you can see pics of a Maine coon kitten and they are pretty small so i would have to say a Maine coon kitten can be big but they are small
