How can you tell the difference in a mini dachshund puppy from a regular dachshund?

If you purchaced your dog from a reputible breeder, the dog will be registered with the AKC and listed as a purebred dog. A reputible breeder does not sell to pet stores, or if you got your dog from a puppy mill it will most likely not be pure bred. There are expensive DNA test out there to supposedly tell you, but I know someone who did that and got some pretty crazy answers (a husky-looking dog was allegedly a poodle/lab/collie mix...) So really I think the only way to know 100% is if you talk to the breeder who should be able to show you a 3-4 generation AKC pedigree of both parents.

BUT IS DIFFERENT BECAUSE SHORTER.

A miniature dachsund typically weighs less than 11 pounds at adulthood. A dachshund who isn't short of stature might not actually be a dachshund, but some other breed of dog such as a beagle or greyhound.

Sorry to say but if there is no proof any breed can be mixed in with your dog.

They're smaller and they weigh less. One of my dogs was 1 pound at 2 months and the other was 2 pounds at 2 months. They are 7 and 11 pounds now, respectively.
