Dolphins are mammals, not fish, and they reproduce in the same way that humans and most other mammals do. The males have a penis, to introduce semen to the female's vagina. Fertilized eggs are matured in the dolphin's womb for many months and after about 12 months baby dolphins are born through the vagina, as in other mammals.

Reproduction occurs internally for the female dolphin when she finds a willing mate, as her eggs are inside of her. Eventually, the female dolphin will give birth with the baby being born tail first so as not to drown. Then its mother helps it up to the surface for its first breaths.
