good question! first of all, if you are not very experianced with horses, learn more before you start training them. You should never under any circumstances, let the horse do what you don't want it to. Do not be afraid to "hurt the horses feelings" or hurt the horse itself. make sure you do lots of training and reward it when it does something good. discepline is the key to dominating a horse.

Stallions usually teach other horses the "pecking order". Tell who is the boss and where he is in the pecking order. They can also teach the younger ones manners or how to behave around other stallions. But of course stallions will kick and bite to show dominance just like any other horse in the herd.

If by stock show you mean a show for stock type horses the ages of the horses go from baby to geriatric (old). Some horses have very long show careers while others can burn out by age 7. The best ones are used for breeding after their show careers are over.
