For show a Half-Arabian's mane is only braided for hunter and dressage classes. it can be braided in the traditional individual braids. Don't pull the mane though on ANY horse shown at Arabian shows, just do more braids that are thinner and bend and fold them up before fastening with rubberbands that match the mane color and thread to make them neat looking. The other alternative is a long running braid that is like 1/2 of a french braid. Find someone at a horse show who has their horse braided and ask them if you can watch them braid up a horse- most people will very willingly let you watch. It takes lots of practice so do it at home several times at home before heading to a show.
