Your best bet is to use a steam cleaner. If that is not possible make sure you pick up anything solid and then take paper towel and soak up any liquid you can(step on the paper towel to give more pressure if you have to) Then get some cleaner like lysol or anything nonbleach that you can sprey on the spot and scrub it in. Make sie after you have scrubbed to soak up all liquid again. If there is a smell you can use vinegar. If there is still a stain there is a cleaner called Spot Shot that works really good, just make sure it is ok for you carpet so you don't fade the color.
umm okay ive been searching this thing for over an hour lookin up how to clean up people puke and it says nothin so if your having my problem this is what you do..you take hot water and put dish soap in it and then pour that over the puke spot and let it soak for a minute or two. then you stick a towel over it then you pound the towel in with a shoe or what ever a hand works if you can handle touching puke so then start rubbing the towel over the puke and then pick the towel up and wash it. it worked for me i hope it works for you.
