Some ears simply need time to prick up on their own. However, if you are concerned that they will not stand on their own, there is a trick you can use. (Don't laugh.) Take tampon tubes and feed his ears into them. Then use adhesive tape to wrap the tubes and secure them in place. Remove the tubes every few days to let the ears breathe and check on their progress. Repeat as necessary.

German Shepherds' ears typically stand up on their own as they grow, usually by 6 months of age. If your puppy's ears haven't stood up by this age, you can try posting or taping them to help them stand. If the ears still haven't stood up by around 8-9 months, it's less likely they will naturally stand on their own.
They should do so by their own, if not don't worry. Its fine.
German Shepherds can stand very tall. Males stand up to 24-26 inches tall. Females stand up to 22-24 inches.
German Shepherd's are born with naturally floppy ears as their cartilage in their ears has not yet developed enough to support them. Most German Shepherd's ears will stand up eventually, all though there are sometimes Dogs that retain their floppy ears. The vast majority, however, will have erect ears in time.
We bought a German shepherd pup in October. We brought him home at 6 weeks old. His ears stood up at 7 weeks old. I have kept picture logs and specifically marked the day his ears stood up.
Never. There is no reason this should ever be done. It is inhumane and unnecessary. A schnauzers ears should be cropped between 6 and 10 weeks old, any later than that and your odds of them standing goes down. It is not necessary to have the cropped, however many show dogs still do this to keep the original look of the breed. The ears are usually completely heeled by 9 weeks of age if done at six weeks. It is a cosmetic surgery for dogs, just like many humans have things changed.
The ears should rise within 9 months of age. "SOFT" ears are a disqualifying factor only in the show ring.
German Shepherds have big ears to help them with their keen sense of hearing. The large ears are able to pick up a wide range of sounds and help them with their alertness and ability to respond to potential threats or commands from their owners. Additionally, the size of their ears can also help regulate their body temperature by allowing heat to escape through the ears.
