How do you get a tick off a cat?

hold your cat down then find the tick and try not to get any fur because it might hurt your cat put your finger on the tick (you can wear gloves) and just turn/roll (not twist) it in one direction until it comes out. If you don't understand what I'm saying you can also use this method although I don't recommend it because it hurts your cat much more. Use some sticky Duct Tape to pull it off since when you squeeze the tick it releases poison to your cat. Both methods work on humans and dogs.

hi, i have 3 cats and many of times they have come home with those nasty little things on them. there is one method which i made up myself and i have stuck with it as it has always worked.

here goes:

as soon as you see the tick, you need to do something, you don't want it to suck too much blood out and it will get very VERY big.

get hold of your cat and smother Vaseline all over and around the tick, this might suffocate it..leave it for about 30 minutes.

now you need to get a small cup/bowl and put some strong alcohol in it.

get hold of your cat again and give it a fuss.

get a pair of tweezers and get the tick as close to the skin as possible. (you don't want to leave too much of the tick in) pull the tick straight out, do NOT twist as it will DEFINITELY leave some behind and more than you want!!!

put the tick in the alcohol as it is poison and it will die!!! leave it in there for about 20 minutes to make sure it is defiantly dead!

now get the Vaseline again and smother it over where you pulled the tick out (just in case the head is still in here) it will suffocate it as the air sac has gone. soon the remains of the tick will drop off your cat.

IMPORTANT:

after pulling some of the tick out, don't get the tweezers again and try to pull the rest out. the tick will of figured out something was going on and would try to go in further.. it will make matters worse.

this process will NOT hurt your cat.. i always have someone else fussing my cat whilst doing it.. they always purr ..

if you can, get a friend to help you with this. 1. calm your pet 2. get tweezers and pull the tick out. 3. PUT THE TICK IN A PLASTIC BAG AND GET RID OF IT! 4. groom your pets often so if they get a tick the problem can be solved asap

My advise it get your vet to do it but if you use tweesers and pull on the tick hard they should come off

One of the best ways to get rid of ticks is to buy some guinea hens and let them run loose on your property. They are known to be one of the best predators against ticks.
