To get your dog to release a toy in a game of fetch there are two ways. One, you can teach your dog how to "drop it" on command. Two, you could squeeze your dogs cheeks in between their teeth at the back of their mouth, and their grip on the toy with lessen and you will be able to remove the toy. This does not hurt the dog.
There are two winners in a game of fetch: the dog who retrieves the toy or object, and the person who gets to enjoy watching their dog have fun and getting exercise while playing fetch.
buy your dog a chew toy and play fetch with them
To teach your dog to play fetch, start by using a favorite toy or ball. Encourage your dog to chase after the toy when you throw it, then praise and reward them when they bring it back to you. Repeat this process consistently and gradually increase the distance of the throws. With patience and positive reinforcement, your dog will learn to enjoy playing fetch.
Assuming the dog has an interest in retrieving, yes. I play the point and fetch game with my lab, I point at an object (usually a toy) and she will fetch it for me. She is training to be a bird dog. Something to consider is whether it is legal to have a dog fetch a squirrel for you. In most states, it is only legal for a dog to retrieve birds. Check the Division of Wildlife's Small Game guide for more information. They are free and can be found at sporting stores, Walmart, or the DoW itself.

Yes but some beaches do not allow it. Just make sure you pick up after your dog. Bring it a toy so you can play fetch with your dog. And bring a leash and water.
Absolutely! If you have a toy motivated dog, this is a good way to train it. For example, get them very interested in the toy. Then gently pull it from its mouth and lure it into a sit. Then, release the dog with its release word (usually break, free, release, or okay) and let them have the toy. Or teach commands accordingly.
There is no breed difference in a black, yellow, or chocolate lab except for color. Assuming the dogs have an interest in retrieving, yes. Some fun and interactive ways to keep your dog entertained with a dog cone toy include filling it with treats or peanut butter, freezing it for a longer-lasting challenge, playing fetch with it, hiding it for your dog to find, and rotating different toys to keep things interesting.
When a dog drops a ball, it typically involves the dog releasing the ball from its mouth or paws and letting it fall to the ground or another surface. This behavior is often seen when a dog is playing fetch or interacting with a toy.
As you probably already know Jack Russell Terriers are high energy dogs and are quite stubborn. He should have been trained long ago, but it's not too late. If you go to your vet and ask where there are good training classes or, got to a place like Petcetera they do have training classes there. You are the "boss" of this dog and HE/SHE needs to know it!You can try what my family does for our dogs.1. find a toy that the dog has taken a strong liking to.2. get a friend or family member help you3. when you see the dog playing with the toy, being taking the toy from your dog then giving it back right away. do this a few times to insure you keep the dogs interest.4. once you are sure you have the dogs interest take the toy and hand it to your assistant. have him/her stand a few feet away and call the dog. Once the dog response to them instruct them to give the dog the toy.5. After you assistant gives the dog the toy immediately call the dog to you and take the toy back (give the dog a treat).6. Repeat process a few more timesDO THIS SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF A COUPLE OF WEEKS:Once your dog learns to expect these actions you can move on to throwing the ball back and forth with your assistant and the dog will automatically follow the ball. Make sure that every time you or you assistant receive the ball you hand it to the dog and the dog is instructed by you or them to come bringing the ball back to the person who threw it (Make sure to give reward for returning toy to you). Eventually the dog will learn that if it brings the toy back with it he/she will receive some kind of reward. Once you notice the dog automatically returning the toy to you, you should begin to change up the routine a little bit at a time. Adding new commands such as Fetch every time you or your assistant throw the toy and/or changing the distance the dog has to travel is a good way to start. Eventually, your dog will learn what is expected of him/her and you can gradually stop giving the treats and/or having your assistant close by to help you and start just giving the command Fetch when throwing the toy. Your dog should return the toy to you without any outside help. Hope that I explained this well enough for you to understand what I mean {because until today I really never gave thought to how I trained my dogs I just did it}.KecharaPLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS DOES NOT WORK FOR EVERY DOG.. SOME DOGS JUST DON'T, FOR WHATEVER REASON, LIKE TO PLAY FETCH.... I HAVE FOUR DOGS CURRENTLY AND OF THOSE FOUR ONLY 2 ARE EVEN REMOTELY INTERESTED IN THE GAME.. YET I HAD MANY OTHERS OVER THE YEARS,IN MY CARE,THAT TOOK TO THE GAME WHOLE HEARTEDLY.The way I taught my dogs to fetch was to take his/ her favorite toy and put peanut butter on it. The dog will soon get the idea that playing fetch is a treat to him/her. If you taught the dog to come then you would have no problem getting him to come back to you . So all you have to do when the dog gets the toy is to yell "come" (nicely) and the dog should come back with the toy.
