Don't try. Keep it inside. If you have an attached garage put a screendoor on it so the cat can observe the outside during the day. Peta won't like this but if you must to keep it from destroying your furniture, have it's front toenails removed. We have 6 very happy cats and our daughter has 9. They all have had their front toenails removed. On the 4th day after the operation they will be having a ball.

Do cats gray?

Mine has some. I expect that cats graying is in part due to the exposure to the sun. My cat is black but is an indoor/outdoor cat, so he has only grayed slightly over the 8 or so years he has been alive. Some cats I have seen from the same litter were black when they were young too, but became gray after a few years out in the sun all of the time. Hope this helps. :)
