Depending on the location of the tear you clean the wound with a damp cloth, if possible. Then use Hydrogen peroxide and/or rubbing alcohol to sterilize the wound. If it's in an area where there is hair getting into the wound it may be necessary to shave the area around the wound beforehand. If so, be sure ot remove enough hair so as to be able to tape the bandage down once it has been cleaned, ointment placed and covered. Once prepped and cleaned. Use a Triple Antibiotic ointment on the tear and then cover it with a nonstick bandage/gauze (like a 4 x 4 sterile gauze pad) size to cover the wound completely. Then tape the gauze in to place using medical tape.
If the wound is deep then putting a call into your Veterinarian is advised. They can also give you advise on what to use to help heal the wound.
