The only way to be sure is if the hymen is still reasonably in tact. The hymen is a membrane that covers the vaginal opening it is may be perforated to some extent but may offer resistance and cause some bleeding the first time sex is had by a woman. However there are many ways the Hymen can be broken well before a woman has had sex, so there is really no hard and fast evidence that a woman is not a virgin.
