I have a small orchard where climing groundhogs have been a real problem for my peach, mulberry, and pear trees. The only solution I have come up with, is to wrap the trunk with a five foot high tree-tube, and then apply three bands of tanglefoot starting two feet up, and one foot apart, directly to the tree-tube. The tanglefoot needs to be reapplied regularly during fruiting, and with thick coatings. The groundhogs hate the tanglefoot. Good luck!
