To teach your dog to drop objects on command, start by using a treat to encourage them to release the object voluntarily. Pair the command "drop it" with the action of dropping the object. Practice this consistently and reward your dog each time they comply. Gradually phase out the treats and continue practicing until your dog reliably responds to the command. Consistency and positive reinforcement are key to successful training.

You can't teach a dog to stop his/her desire to kill something such as a squirrel or a parakeet. However you can teach the dog impulse control. Teach the dog the "leave it" command which will make the dog make the connection that the bird= to back away. However you will never get to the point that you can leave the house with the dog and the parakeets alone. You will always have to keep them in separate rooms, when there is no human around. to find more info on how to train thd dog the "leave it" command you can google it. Im sure there are video of how to train the dog.

Gradually incorporate the touch stick into obedience commands, like sitting or staying, to reinforce good behavior.
