You could try positive feedback; food, or petting it when you call its name. Some of my cats respond to their names, and some do not.
Just keep repeating it's name again and again while looking it in the eye. Or you can try saying it's name and touching it to make sure you have it's attention. Others use little snacks and bits of food--say it's name and when it looks, give it a small bit of snack or instead of food, you could pet it in a favorite place. Just remember it is going to take some time no matter what method you chose to use. The thing to remember first and foremost when you have a cat, either a mature cat or a kitten is this--dogs have owners, cats have servants. And it's not a joke.
It was the Kitten
'Mary' is a nice name for a female kitten, but it depends on what the kitten's name is and what that kitten looks like...and even if the owner of that kitten likes that name! Hope that helps!
To train your kitten to use the kitten door, start by placing treats on the other side of the door to encourage them to push through. Gradually increase the distance of the treats from the door to help them get used to pushing through on their own. Positive reinforcement and patience are key in training your kitten to use the door.
To train your kitten to use the litter box effectively, place the box in a quiet, accessible location and show your kitten where it is. Keep the box clean and use a litter that your kitten prefers. Reward your kitten with treats or praise when they use the box correctly. Be patient and consistent with training to help your kitten develop good litter box habits.
I like that name a lot for a kitten!

Kitten Pinder's birth name is Kathryn Pinder.
I have a male black kitten and I named it Leo but his full name is Leonardo. Give your kitten a name that you'll be comfortable with for a long time. The kitten won't worry about it. There are no rules (shoulds).
