How does a hyena catch its pray?

Hyenas use a tactic of separating their pack and surrounding their prey or forcing its prey to run to a dead end. Once their prey is surrounding they attack. This tactic is used by the military today.

Or if the hyenas is alone they plan an attack to the animal like separating the calf from its mother than slowly attacking the calf leaving the mother knowing she cant do anything about it. She walks away as her child dies slowly.
