During mating, the pair is locked into a copulatory tie which lasts for 5-36 minutes. Once pregnancy occurs the female will bear a litter of 5-6 pups within the gestation period of 62-75 days. Mated pairs will remain together for life and unlike dogs or other canine species, the male wolf will NOT abandon his mate to copulate with another. Their bond is forever.
